Homewood Lake Tahoe

Sarah & Ryland’s wedding defined a phrase they use to describe themselves “rugged elegance” - these two share a wholehearted bond that is unmeasurable. They show up to the unfolding of all their lives offer, seek great adventures - all while documenting the ride through narrative videography as a profession with their company Zweifel Studios. These two live intentionally & this was obvious in every detail of their wedding day.
They chose Lake Tahoe to celebrate their marriage at their family’s estate in Homewood, California. There was no coincidence these two chose the summer solstice to be their wedding day - for it defines their appreciation for the abundance of good that surrounds them & their love for each other.
The wedding day kicked off as most do “with momentum” The excitement was high and the thoughtful gestures through each experience were executed with precision. Sarah & Ryland are visionaries & it took a qualified team to plan & execute their details. We were honored to work closely with these two for 9 months to plan the full scope of their guest experiences & overall design. We chose a team of vendors very carefully to make sure we exceeded their expectations.
The ceremony was by far the simplest yet most powerful moment of the day. It took place on the Lake Shore of Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma California just down the street from their families mountain home. The focus for the ceremony was to “ be present” so mocktails greeted the guest as they arrived.
Ryland & Sarah work in the wedding industry & understood how fast the day speeds by - so they wanted to slow things down & enjoy the moment. They felt it was important to create a space where people turned inward to recognize the abundance life has to offer, the fulfillment we are meant to feel and most importantly to be grateful for all the love that surrounds them. Rylands brother a meditation speaker was the perfect fit for leading everyone through this moment. Sarah & Ryland then exchanged vows, which was a pure joyride. The guest had no choice but to surrender to laughter, and tears of happiness as Sarah & Ryland shared the deepest corners of their hearts. And just like that two people made for each other shared a toast with their family & friends to celebrate their union as husband and wife. Cheer you two!
Sarah grew up in what is now a classic Toyota pickup truck. The “Just Married sign with cans” felt nostalgic & fitting to drive away in to let the small town of 600 people in Homewood, CA know the “Zweifels just got married”.
Reception took place at the family’s estate. The menu was prepared by chef Lee Desrosiers owner of This Is Hell Chicken. The Zweifels wanted ingredient-rich food that was sourced responsibly and cooked with love. Chef Lee & his team served just that. The meal was served family-style to 120 guests & was paired with various wines from around the world chosen by Sarah the bride who is a sommelier. Let’s just say dinner went on for hours as stories were told & people enjoyed incredible food & drinks. To top it off, a homemade cake & pies from the cornerstone bakery were served with coffee & tea.
The evening was its own vibe - one many of us wished would never end. The dance shed brought us back to the dirty dancing film with the cozy cabin lit up by old neon signs & colored market lights.
